Three Trees is a spectacular period lodge based on the concept of heritage tourism focussed on and around the battlefield of Spionkop. The lodge is constructed of timber and corrugated iron based on kits as they were imported from Britain during the time of the Anglo Boer war. The main lodge has spectacular views across the valley and Spionkop nature reserve to the summit of Spionkop where memorials to the battle can be seen. In the opposite direction loom the ever emotional Drakensberg Mountain range with swirling cloud, storms, and jagged ridges. The main lodge is surrounded by large verandas with comfortable lounging chairs and resident dogs who make every guest feel like family. This is definitely a place worth visiting.
