Blue Water Hunting and Spearfishing for Big Game Fish

This is the real thing , miles from land , these blue water hunters of the deep pit themselves against the ocean elements to select and shoot the target of their choice while holding their breath. Spearing or spear fishing is a selective sport where man and fish are both working to survive in a hostile environment of open water. The environment can sometimes be cold , have poor visibility, sometimes be filled with ocean predators such as Mako shark, Bull Shark, Tiger Shark, Blue shark and Silvertip shark. Whilst I don't spear, it was fascinating to join these open ocean hunters with their spearguns while they stalk their prey spending hours in the water. These hunters are true sports men, there is no such thing as canned hunting in the ocean. You need to fit and strong with good water skills including breath hold for diving and swiming skills to deal with ocean curents and large swells or waves. Confidence and understanding of your prey and predators in the sea is also crucial so as to allow a hunter to relax while maintaining high levels of vigilance.
